Ring Laila
Documentary | TRT 24 min Color | USA 2010
Ring Laila is a 25 minute documentary about two Indian Muslim women who reassess gender roles to train and compete as boxers. It is a film about empowerment and the fighting spirit that inspires people to dream for something better amidst seemingly insurmountable odds.
Ring Laila is as much of a personal film, as a portrait of two independent women. It transitions through brief vignettes that capture one essence of India, balancing the traditional with the modern, as a parallel to its character's lives and dreams.
